Last night in London, a representative of Refugee Aid Miksalište attended the European Citizenship Awards on behalf of Mikser and the Divac Foundation, to accept one of the key honours, after winning with close to 5,000 online votes.
The awards are bestowed by the joint initiatives “Volonteurope” and “European Civic Forum”, two European networks which promote social engagement of citizens. The awards celebrate the democratic civil engagement of individuals, organizations, associations, media platforms and entrepreneurs and give recognition to innovative initiatives that contribute to and are in keeping with the European values of democracy, social justice and human rights.
Refugee Aid Miksalište has been proclaimed “Campaign of the Year”, a prize recognising the motivation and commitment in assisting refugees and, as well as the project’s basic, civil values. The award is also an indicator that Miksalšte is recognized at a European level as an important centre for providing aid to refugees in the Balkans and as an initiative that promotes the values of humanity, solidarity and empathy and which thus has a positive influence on the community and European society in general.
